Dan is a risk management consultant, lecturer and operational risk manager, majoring in crowd safety. His policing background (emergency planning, public order and training) provided a unique foundation for his subsequent career as one of the leading event safety professionals in the UK. 

He serves as an associate lecturer with the UK Cabinet Office Emergency Planning College and leads a suite of crowd safety courses including Crowd Dynamics, Safety at Sports Venues and Spectator Safety Management. Dan is also the lead Assessor and IQA for the EPC Spectator Safety Management Diploma programme, which trains and accredits Safety Officers. 

Dan has collaborated with government departments and local authorities to drive up standards in risk management and is considered an expert witness, providing clarity and understanding on interpretation of UK safety law and guidance.
